1000 GIRLS/YEAR WILL LEARN BASICS of ai
Empower will have a pilot term at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in October 2018. Upon its successful completion, the program will be launched across all 5 Polytechnics and then ITE in Singapore. With an average class size of 30/class, the roadmap lays out the plan to reach over 1000 girls/year who will experience this course.
Empower uses a combination of features to create a stimulating course for girls.
- Skills: Basics of AI and Machine Learning including regression, classification (eg. naive bayes, decision trees), clustering (eg. k-means) and association rule mining..
- Discussions: Course facilitators use video talks and news articles to stimulate discussions.
- Events: Events with AI companies and entrepreneurs every month.
- Visits: Each term, the girls have two visits to leading innovation labs in Singapore.
Connect the dots between a business problem, and the use of data and machine learning to solve it.
Know fundamental Machine Learning models to choose for different types of problem, such as classification, clustering, and association rule mining.
Learn the principles of the ethical design of AI solutions.
Have an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of applying AI in practice.
